John 1:45-51 “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Be-hold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. Jesus answered and said unto him, Be-cause I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.”
In the year 2020 most every church we were privileged to be in had adopted a phrase about perfect vision for their theme. Little did we know what 2020 held in store for the world and God’s people.
By the end of March, we were off the road and grounded at home in Amarillo, Texas. Sunday mornings we tuned into our home church and Pastor Darrell Grimm cuddled in our recliners with a cup of coffee warming our hands. Then we would browse to visit churches across America with whom we had been. God called us to be on the road, but in this uncertain time when churches were trying to find a new way to reach people with the Gospel, we were set ‘under the fig tree.’ Under the fig tree wasn’t so bad. It was a place of rest. It was a place of shade. And God’s vision is 20/20. He saw us there. When we were wondering how we could make ends meet, God was already meeting them. Plus, a month of honey-dos went a long way about the home.
“Hereafter ye shall see heaven open…” In 2019 when we paid our property taxes and flippantly asked, “When are these taxes going to stop going through the roof?” The very nice lady told us about Trump’s Homestead act for people our age. We ap-plied for it and received it. What we did not know was that we would be reimbursed for the two years we hadn’t owned the Homestead act. That money came in the month of April exactly when God saw us under the fig tree in need.
At the end of April, we were on the road again. We had online meetings with few people attending in person, parking lot concerts and a variety of masked men and women! To cough was to alienate yourself, and no one could see you smile. And yet, the smile of God still opens heaven. Thank you, Lord for the fig tree…and I know we ain’t seen nothing yet!
God continued to provide for us throughout the year in unbelievable ways. When the need arose and we started praying about a new computer to record with as well do the ministry work, God went far above our expectation. In the short time of 10-14 days God provided the complete amount to purchase a Dell G7 topnotch computer to fill the need. We have a wonderful Heavenly Father!
While in traveling to Missouri, we noticed (after a meal at Cracker Barrel) that we had a broken leaf spring on one side of our back axle in the Covered Wagon. After spending much time on the phone trying to track down someone to fix the problem, Gander RV quoted $75.00 for accessing the problem and then $145.00 per hour as well as it would take 5 days to get it fixed. After discovering there was no mobile repair service in the area of Columbia, MO, God worked in miraculous ways to get us in contact with a man who knew a young man who was willing to fix our problem! The new leaf spring was found in town across the highway for Gander RV and fixed the same day! Someone (known to God) paid for the majority of our bill and we paid $250! Is God good or what?! We stand in awe how God put it all together.
We thank each of you who hold us up in prayer! You are precious to our ministry and we pray you have a wonderful, Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year!
Love and Merry Christmas,
