Clay shook his head. "I agree with you, but you have got to be careful. He is dangerous and even more so if he is crazy. We need to pray before we act."

"To God? Do you really think I want to pray to God? Look what He let happen to my papa?" Tears seemmed to jump from her eyes and cascade down her face. She took her apron and slashed them away.

Clay felt his heart drop. "Beep, you don't mean that. You can't mean that."

"Really? Clay, that was my papa. You saw what happened to him. My granny needed him. How do you think I should feel?" Beep trembled.

"Beep, I don't know, but not mad at God," he whispered. "The God I know loves you."

She pressed her lips together, "Then we must not know the same God." She whirled to go back inside.
